Admissions

Reynalds Cross School is a maintained special school for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The school provides specialist education within a supportive, structured and inclusive environment and works closely with families and professionals to meet the needs of its pupils.

All admissions to Reynalds Cross School are managed by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. The school does not accept applications directly from parents or carers.

Pupils admitted to Reynalds Cross School have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Decisions regarding placement are made by the Local Authority in accordance with statutory SEND legislation. As part of this process, the Local Authority consults with parents or carers and the school to ensure that the placement is appropriate to the needs outlined in the EHCP.

Parents and carers who wish to request a place at Reynalds Cross School should do so through Solihull Local Authority SEND Services. Requests for placement are considered as part of the EHCP process and may include new placements, transfers from other schools or in-year requests. The school works with the Local Authority as part of this consultation process but does not make admissions decisions independently.

All decisions relating to admissions and placement, including the naming of the school in an EHCP, are the responsibility of the Local Authority. The school follows the outcomes of this process and supports pupils once a placement has been agreed.

Parents and carers have the right to appeal decisions relating to EHCP placements through the SEND Tribunal. Appeals are managed by the Local Authority and not by the school.

Visits to Reynalds Cross School may be arranged as part of the consultation process and are usually coordinated through the Local Authority SEND team.
