Adventurer and Voyager
In September 2021 Reynalds Cross established the Satellite Centre at the previous Coronation Youth Centre site on Green Lane.
This provides an exciting opportunity for up to 20 students in our 14-19 department to be based at an alternative site where they can experience a broad variety of activities. Students still have the opportunity to access our main school site for activities with other 14-19 students and the wider school community, and visits from staff and students from main site to the Satellite Centre are encouraged.
Whilst the curriculum is in line with that at the main site, the Satellite Centre’s location means students have regular access to local shops, parks and transport links. This provides meaningful experience for pupils and enhances the learning opportunities we can readily provide.
The centre’s facilities also support students to develop their independent living skills as they have access to a kitchen where they regularly prepare snacks and meals for themselves and their peers.
We are also lucky to have a large common room and sports hall where students can relax, explore leisure activities or play games and sports.
More information about the 14-19 curriculum can be found on the Teaching and Learning section of the website.
We have been going to Summerfield stables and work with Nina to learn about horse and pony care. The pupils love it!
KS5 Students visit Touchwood once a week for work experience. They fill leaflet stands, deliver memos to shops, conduct surveys, package gift cards and help sort marketing posters.
KS5 attend a link course at Solihull college which is organised by our future planning coordinator (Vicki Yale). This years students have completed an ICT course. From September 2022 we plan to visit other local colleges as well.
