As part of the whole school communication strategy, the ‘quiet time’ was introduced. The ‘quiet time’ is used in most classes at the start of a lesson and at the start of a whole school assembly.
Quiet Time Protocol
- Quiet time helps to calm pupils during transition times. Transitions are difficult for most of our pupils
- Quiet time acts as a form of an object of reference and alerts the pupil that lessons are about to start. It is hopefully consistent in all classes
- Quiet time helps the pupil experience the sensation of being quiet and sitting in quiet. When staff then need to ask a pupil to be quiet the pupil will have a better idea of what this feels like
- Quiet time helps adults to experience and practice being quiet and still also.
