What We Do
Organisation of the school
The School is divided into Lower School (Nursery, Foundation Stage, Key Stages 1 and 2) and Upper School (Key Stages 3 and 4) departments with an attached Sixth Form unit. Pupils are grouped into classes of approximately eight to ten, depending on age and ability, i.e. pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties or on the autistic spectrum. These groups vary from year to year. Each class has a teacher and two or more learning support assistants depending on the individual needs of pupils in the class.
We currently have 128 pupils on roll distributed across the following year groups:
Learning support assistants work with individuals or small groups of pupils either within or outside the class base. All staff have appropriate qualifications and continue with their professional development through in-service training both within the school and by attending external courses.
The School day starts for pupils at 9.15am. Any illness or absence must be reported to the school office by 9am. Lunchtime begins at 12.00 midday and ends at 1.30pm (incorporating lower and upper school lunches and structured play sessions).
The School day ends at 3.20pm when transport or parents/carers arrive to take the pupils home. All pupils will have left the school premises by 3.30pm, except on after-school club days.
